MY CLIENT, NOT MY PATIENT

It was a long awaited opportunity. The quest for knowledge was a great passion for me. It took me 5years of many exams before I could gain admission into the university. And in the year 1999, I got a good news. I got an admission to study Economics Education. Even though, I put in for Economics major but I had no option than to key into the one I got.

Studying any education course was like a thing of shame but I summoned courage to succeed in what I had in my hand. Right there, in my first semester, my heart opened to what life best got for me: Guidance and Counseling. I tried all possible best to change course to Guidance & Counseling which I did successfully in my 2nd year in the university.

On a fateful day, I met a friend who lived very close to me in the town of Ago Iwoye. A very humble and intelligent medical student, Dr Adeola Buluro. Then, he was staying at the Brown House while I stayed at Ray Power Hall, by Igan Road. One day, in the year 2000, he asked if I could join the medical student on a trip to University of Lagos College of Medicine, Idi Araba for Nigerian Conference of Christian Medical and Dental Students (NCCMDS) National Conference. I agreed to attend and that event changed my orientation and perception to issues of life. In attendance was also Dr Nubi O Peter JP

We had different speakers spoke on topics that matters to our Christian lives and our career and most especially what we give back to humanity. Nobody knew there was an education student in that hall. I felt like been a medical student and there, said to myself, I will grow and develope myself to treat man in my own capacity. It doesn’t matter the challenges, I would never be intimidated nor feel inferior. I vouch to stand for what I believe and purpose in life and this strongly have kept me going. I studied education doesn’t make a medical doctor more worth than I am. We all called for different purpose. Truly, whatever you find your hands to do, do it well. You ll record success in it.

Today, I appreciate God for that opportunity and I see myself assisting my clients to get better. And they smile again. That’s exactly our course at U&I Klinique. A Counseling Consultancy outfit.
